It’s been a while since my last post! I was working on reviewing all the products I purchased at the Sephora 15% VIB sale. Next item I’d like to talk about it the extremely well known original Naked eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay.
I only recently starting dabbling into eyeshadow. I’ve pretty much not worn any eyeshadow in the past until just this year. Therefore, it was ridiculous and I just simply couldn’t justify spending $54 for eyeshadows that I didn’t even know how to apply.
But hey! New year new me! I finally hopped on the bandwagon! I’ve always liked the shimmer and the fabulousness of the colors in this palette as pretty much any girl. We all know we’re interested in shiny things, but I couldn’t figure out how to use them! (Until Now.)
This is the look that I came up with using the Naked palette and one shade from the Tarte Tarteist Pro palette.
I started with the Urban Decay Eden lid primer and put the shade Classic from the Tarte Pro palette as a base. Then I went in with the shade Naked in my crease with the Morphe 433 brush (most amazing brush ever! It gets the color even in my creases like no brush has ever been able to before). I then used the shade Hustle in my outer corner and finally a mix of Sin and Sidecar for my inner corner and went back over it again with Naked in the crease.
Overall I would say that the two matte colors are very universal and can be used with almost any eye look while the darker shimmer colors are more suitable for either an attention grabbing work look (low key shimmer but with SLIGHTLY darker outer corners) or a night out in Vegas look. Overall I wouldn’t say that this palette is very good for day time or work appropriate looks; although it may work for some people, I don’t know what people do for a living but I work weekdays at a financial company so…they’re not the biggest fans of dramatic looks.
The lighter shimmer shades are incredibly beautiful colors and I guess they are pigmented because a lot of it transfers to my fingers during swatches but they don’t show up very well on my Asian skin tone even with a light base underneath. I previously spoke about trying the NYX jumbo white eye crayon over the lid to see if it would make color pop but it didn’t help at all. Literally no difference.
One of the other products I purchased during the VIB 15% sale was the Urban Decay lid primer in Sin. It’s a shimmer primer. It worked! I applied the primer in Sin over the inner corner where I placed the shimmer shades and used my finger to pat down the shimmer shades instead of a brush or rubbing it in.
